    Diamond tools can be classified differently according to the embedding methods, processing methods, manufacturing methods, application fields and so on.

    • 3. Classification According to the Manufacturing Method

    As a diamond tool, it usually consists of two main parts. One is the working tooth part of the tool, and the other is the body of the tool. The working tooth part and the tool body can be manufactured in one step or in multiple steps.

    The main production methods of single – crystal impregnated diamond tools are as follows:

    ①. Cold – pressing – sintering method

    ②. Hot – pressing method

    ③. Impregnation method

    ④. Brazing method

    ⑤. Electroplating method

    There are three basic elements of polycrystalline diamond:

    ① Substrate – free polycrystalline sintered body (PCD) (referred to as polycrystalline diamond simply);

    ② Substrate – bearing polycrystalline sintered body (PDC) (referred to as polycrystalline diamond compact simply);

    ③ Chemical vapor deposition film (CVD) (referred to as diamond film simply).

    • 4.Classification According to the Application fields

    Application Sectors and Main Tools of Diamond Tools:

    1. Resource Drilling:

    – -Solid Ore Deposit Exploration: impregnated geological drill bits, reamers; — Oil and Gas Well Drilling (on land and at sea): drill bits inlaid with PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) and PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact); — Coalfield Drilling: impregnated coalfield drill bits; — Groundwater Resource Drilling: impregnated drill bits.

    2. Mining:

    — Stone Quarrying: wire saws; — Coal Mining: mining tools inlaid with PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) and PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compact).

    3. Stone Material Processing:

    — Marble Processing: circular saw blades, frame saws, wire saws, band saws; grinding and polishing tools; special-shaped tools; drill bits. — Granite Processing: circular saw blades, wire saws, grinding and polishing tools; special-shaped tools; drill bits.

    4. Building Material Processing:

    – – Processing of Artificial Ceramic Materials: grinding and polishing tools; special-shaped tools; circular saw blades; drill bits. – -Glass Processing: grinding and polishing tools; special-shaped tools; circular saw blades; drill bits; scoring pens.

    5. Civil Engineering Construction:

    — Cutting and Grooving of Concrete (or Reinforced Concrete): circular saw blades, grooving blades; – Cutting and Grooving of Asphalt: circular saw blades, grooving blades; — Drilling for Engineering Construction: thin-wall engineering drill bits; — Drilling for Equipment Installation: thin-wall factory drill bits; — Demolition of Buildings: wire saws, large-size circular saw blades.

    6. Metal Processing:

    — Processing of Semiconductor Silicon: precision circular saws, precision polishing discs, precision grinding wheels, micro drill bits, cutting tools for CVD films; — Processing of Aluminum Alloys and Magnesium Alloys: tools such as turning, milling, boring, and planing made of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) and polycrystalline diamond (PCD), grinding wheels, honing blocks; – Wire Drawing of Copper Alloys and Even Stainless Steel: wire drawing dies made of PCD, PDC, and CVD.

    7. Cemented Carbide Processing:

    — The processing of cemented carbide – grinding and polishing tools, drill bits.

    8. Wood and Composite Wood Processing:

    — Wood processing – circular saw blades, special-shaped tools; — Composite wood processing – mortise and tenon forming tools.

    9. Processing of Other Special Materials:

    — Ceramic processing – grinding and polishing tools, drill bits; – Refractory material processing – circular saw blades, drill bits; – Hard magnetic material processing – grinding and polishing tools, drill bits; — Graphite processing – circular saw blades, drill bits; – -Carbon composite material processing – circular saw blades , drill bits.

    — High-hardness Components: indenters, pressure pads; – -High-thermal-conductivity Components: heat dissipation elements for electronic devices; — High-wave-transmitting Components: optical windows; — Large-grained Single Crystals: decorative elements.
